Sexism is not always explicit in music - sometimes it's just between the lines. Sing one of them out loud and you will understand how some letters reflect our society more than you would have imagined.
To raise awareness of these questions and provoke some sort of conversation on this matter, we united a group of amazing women and created MMPB - Música Machista Popular Brasileira (Brasilian Sexist Popular Music), a project where you could listen, read and understand why some popular songs of brazilian culture are extremely problematic. From rape apology to domestic violence, we should be more careful about what we listen to.
The results of the project were amazing and we are glad it started a healthy conversation about sexism in popular culture.
